Many organizations have expressed an interst in leasing and/or purchasing TDSB non-operating school sites over the past few years. In order to keep all interested parties informed about the availability of these sites, the following update is provided.
The TDSB devolved, to the TLC, responsibility for the lease, sale and management of the TDSB's 97 non-operating school properties. A list of the properties and the TLC's first Annual Plan can be found on the TLC website - www.torontolandscorp.ca (About us)
Of the 97 non-operating school sites, the TDSB approved the sale of 16 properties. The 16 properties have been circulated to the TDSB’s public partners, pursuant to the requirement of O. Regulation 444/98, Disposition of Surplus Real Property. The circulation period closed on December 12, 2008 and the TLC has received expressions of interest, from its public partners, on the following properties. As a result, these properties are not available to private interest groups at this time:
140 Borough Drive (west parking lot)
3945 Lakeshore Blvd.
Dublin, 819 Sheppard Ave. W.
Franklin Horner, 432 Horner Ave.
Harold Lawson, 1710 Ellesmere Rd.
Melody PS, 24 Strathburn Blvd.
Whitfield PS, 123 Whitfield Ave.
The remaining nine properties will be considered for sale to the market. The nine properties are:
840 Coxwell Ave.
Shaw Building, 180 Shaw St.
Dundas Street Warehouse, 1135 Dundas St.
6 six Leslie Street residential lots (394, 396, 398, 400, 404, 406 Leslie St.)
It is anticipated that the following properties will be released to the market in early Spring 2009. Further notification through e-mail correspondence and advertisements in the local papers will be forthcoming as timelines are established.
